Medicine in Iran, roots from its nation’s ancient history. Iran is part of the four ancient civilizations that has been the transit route between east and west. Throughout history, kings in every era strived to spread medical science and aimed to invite physicians from other countries to grow and strengthen their medical sector. Archaeologists discover a 4800-year-old Skelton belonging to a girl within the Burnt city which is the most important archeological sites in Sistan and Baluchestan located in Iran. The skull was found with a deep triangular incision on the right side. Based on initial observations by archaeologists and subsequent anthropological research, surgery was performed on the skull to treat hydrocephalus.

The discovered skull obtained from the ancient site of the burnt city, is regarded as one of the most important discoveries found by archaeologists in the field of medical history. The skull belonged to a young girl aged 12 to 13 and was operated on by doctors of the Burnt city.

One of the most famous doctors in Persian history was called Trita. It has been evident by writings within various books written in pahlavi language, that Trita was involved in the young girl’s surgery procedures. He was known for its cunning intelligent of plants which he used often during his operations.
